Yes, everything that the webserver is running is written in PHP. We have some back-end scripts written in python.

No specific question at the moment, just interested. Although I'm double your age I am still interested in technical things. This was the case from young age on (studied communications engineering in my early twenties, but didn't finished that :-). I'm just wondering about the costs of these technical devices. I know that it's not comparable with the pc devices used in normal computers for private use. It seems as if you use the right things because for me as a member of the 1X community and a user of your hosting service the technic runs without noticable faults. I like that! :-)

:-) Cool that you studied communications engineering. I am a pure learning-by-doing person. I have studied maths and computer science at university, but that didn't really give me any advantages from a practical point of view. Our servers are quite expensive. The simple ones cost around 4000 euro and the advanced servers cost 6000-8000 euro. The internet connection is also quite expensive. Thank god that we live in Uppsala - a town with perfect infrastructure. In the US a connection like the one we are using would probably cost somewhere around 6000 euro a month! Having a stable hosting environment and no technical issues is no 1 priority for me. If the site doesn't work, it doesn't matter how good pictures we have. It is sometimes hard for us to plan the infrastructure since we constantly need to have capacity to handle extreme bursts in visitor amounts. Renting space in a server cloud might help a little, but in the end it would likely be more expensive. / Jacob
